Call for Applications: 2022-2023 ANAMED Fellowships

Regular fellowships are available to support approximately 10 PhD candidates who have completed all coursework and examinations and are working on their dissertations, 10 post-doc who have PhD degrees granted after 15 September 2017, and senior scholars who have PhD degrees granted on or before 15 September 2017.

Applications focusing on the archaeology, art history, heritage, and history of Anatolia from the Neolithic through the Ottoman eras are welcome from scholars of these and allied disciplines, including those that focus on the management, conservation, and presentation of the past. Successful candidates for these fellowships are expected to reside in Istanbul during the nine-month academic year between 15 September and 15 June. A few post-doc and senior fellowships may be reserved for half-year terms.

The Koç University - Stavros Niarchos Foundation, Center for Late Antique and Byzantine Studies (GABAM) and Koç University's Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED) joint fellowship will support one post-doctoral scholar specializing in Byzantine Art History and Archaeology. Applicants should have PhD degree in related fields. Successful applicants will be residing in İstanbul.

The British Institute at Ankara (BIAA) and Koç University's Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED) joint fellowship will support research in heritage studies, concerned with the understanding, promotion, and/or preservation of the historical and archaeological material culture of Turkey and the Black Sea region with particular reference to specific sites, monuments, or regions. One Post-Doctoral fellow or one half-year Senior fellow will be awarded. Applicants should have an MA or PhD qualification in museology, heritage management, conservation, or a related specialization, or have appropriate and comparable professional experience in these fields.

The Koç University Mustafa V. Koç Maritime Archeology Research Center (KUDAR) and Koç University's Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED) joint fellowship supports a post-doctoral specializing in Maritime Archeology or a closely-related topic. The successful applicant is required to reside in Istanbul during the fellowship period, to devote her/his time to a proposed research project, and to deliver three lectures on their original research.

The Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz, Max-Planck-Institut (KHI) and Koç University's Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED) are pleased to announce a joint fellowship to support Post-doctoral or Senior scholars conducting research on archaeology, architecture, art history, heritage, or history.

The successful applicant will hold the fellowship for one academic year, with one term in residence in Florence and one term in residence at ANAMED in Istanbul, and must be able to carry out the proposed research with resources available in these cities.
