Kuşbakışı Filistin sergisi, Osmanlı, Alman, Britanya ve İsrail arşivlerinden belgelerle çağdaş sanatçıların eserlerini yan yana getiriyor. Filistinli sanatçılar tarihi eleştirel ve çoğulcu perspektiflerden değerlendiriyor. Hafızaya açtıkları pencereler, süregelen direnişi karşı-anlatılarla destekler. Sergi, geçmişle konuşan önemli sayıda çağdaş sanat eserini içermesi bakımından ANAMED'in repertuarında özel bir yere sahip.

Kuşbakışı Filistin sergisinin küratörlerinden Yazid Anani ve Zeynep Çelik'in katılımıyla gerçekleşecek özel bir söyleşiye davetlisiniz. Küratörlerin sohbeti, tarihsel ve çağdaş anlatıları bir araya getiren küratöryel vizyonlarına dair önemli bakış açıları sunacak.

Panel, Türkçe ve İngilizce olarak çift dilli ve yüz yüze gerçekleştirilecektir. Genel katılıma açık olan panel için kayıt gerekmemektedir. Çevrimiçi gösterim olmayacaktır.

Yazid Anani

Yazid Anani, Cidde'deki Art Jameel'de Kıdemli Küratördür. 2016-2024 yılları arasında Ramallah'taki A.M. Qattan Vakfı'nda Kamu Programları Direktörü ve Baş Küratör olarak görev yapmıştır. 2007-2016 yılları arasında Birzeit Üniversitesi Mimarlık Bölümü ve Kentsel Planlama ve Peyzaj Yüksek Lisans Programı'nda görev yapmıştır. 2010-2012 yılları arasında Uluslararası Sanat Akademisi Filistin'in Akademik Konseyi Başkanlığını yapmış ve 2009-2015 yılları arasında bu kurumda ders vermiştir. Çok sayıda serginin küratörlüğünü üstlenmiş, çeşitli yayınlara katkıda bulunmuş ve birçok akademik sunum gerçekleştirmiştir.  Anani, Kuşbakışı Filistin sergisinde, Filistin'in yukarıdan görünüşünü sanatsal ve estetik katmanlarıyla birlikte ele alıyor.

Zeynep Çelik

Zeynep Çelik, Columbia Üniversitesi'ne bağlı, mimarlık, kent ve görsel kültür üzerine çalışan bir tarihçidir. Akademik çalışmaları, Geç Osmanlı İmparatorluğu ve Kuzey Afrika'daki Fransız sömürgelerine odaklanmaktadır. En yeni kitabı Europe Knows Nothing about the Orient: A Critical Discourse from the East, 1872-1932 (2021) adlı eserdir. Çelik, Guggenheim Bursu, American Council of Learned Societies Bursu, National Endowment for the Humanities Bursu, Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Fahri Doktora unvanı, Vehbi Koç Ödülü, Sarton Madalyası (Gent Üniversitesi), Giorgio Della Vida Ödülü (UCLA) ve Tamayouz Ödülü gibi prestijli ödüllerin sahibidir.  Çelik, Kuşbakışı Filistin sergisinde Filistin'in görselleştirilmesini, coğrafyanın okunup temsil edilme biçimlerini ve mekânın siyasi işlevlerini tarihsel geçmişleriyle beraber tartışmaya açıyor.

The Palestine from Above exhibition initiates a dialogue between documents from Ottoman, German, British, and Israeli archives and the works of contemporary artists. Palestinian artists look at history critically and from diverse perspectives. Opening windows into memory, they offer counter-narratives which support the ongoing resistance. The exhibition holds a special place in ANAMED's repertoire, as it includes a significant number of contemporary artworks which speak to the past.

Join us for a special panel discussion with two of the Palestine from Above curators, Yazid Anani and Zeynep Çelik. Their conversation will offer insights into the curatorial vision in weaving together historical and contemporary threads.

The in-person panel is open to the public and no registration is required. The panel will be conducted bilingually in Turkish and English. There will be no online streaming.

Yazid Anani

Yazid Anani is a Senior Curator at Art Jameel, Jeddah. He previously held the position of Head Curator and Director of the Public Programme at the A. M. Qattan Foundation in Ramallah from 2016-2024. He was a professor at Birzeit University, contributing to the Department of Architecture and the Masters Program in Urban Planning and Landscape from 2007-2016. From 2010-2012, Anani chaired the Academic Council of the International Art Academy Palestine, where he also taught from 2009-2015. He has curated and co-curated numerous exhibitions and contributed to various publications and lectures. Anani, in the Palestine from Above exhibition, explores the aerial view of Palestine together with its artistic and aesthetic dimensions.

Zeynep Çelik

Zeynep Çelik is a historian of architecture, cities, and visual culture affiliated with Columbia University. Her scholarship focuses on the Late Ottoman Empire and French colonies in North Africa. Her most recent book is Europe Knows Nothing about the Orient: A Critical Discourse from the East, 1872-1932 (2021). She is the recipient of prestigious awards, notably the Guggenheim Fellowship, the American Council of Learned Societies Fellowship, the National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship, Doctor Honoris Causa (Boğaziçi University), the Vehbi Koç Award, Sarton Medal (Ghent University), the Giorgio Della Vida Award (UCLA), and the Tamayouz Award. Çelik, in the Palestine from Above exhibition, opens a discussion on the visual representation of Palestine, how its geography has been interpreted and portrayed, and the political functions of space within their historical contexts.
